Happy New Year!
I think we can all agree that 2020 was challenging to everyone no matter which profession and occupation you belong to.
As a musician, adapting to the new normal was not that easy. Personally, it took me quite some time to accept the reality. I missed performing, having face-to-face lessons with my violin professor (I was excited earlier this year because finally I’ll be learning a new repertoire after a long time of preparing for my graduation recital), and meeting my students (actually meeting them) for their lesson.
Even though my plans at the start of 2020 did not push through, I realized that I am actually in a better place compared to where I envisioned myself for the year. Mabel’s Violin Studio was born and we had our first successful Online Recital (which you can watch on www.facebook.com/mabelandmusic btw). Thank you to the students and parents for your continuous support and trust. Couldn’t have done it without you.
At the start of the lockdown, my initial plan was only to offer violin lessons online until the quarantine ends but when it looked like the situation is not getting better soon, I decided to offer it even after the pandemic. I guess this is a way of adapting to change.
What I like about the online set-up is that I get to teach students wherever they are located and I also get to meet students outside the Philippines. For adult students, it is also much convenient for them to finally fulfill their dream in learning how to play the violin because after work all they have to do is just to log in into their Zoom account and have their lesson for an hour.
No matter what platform, let us all continue to make music. Join us as we unlock your new skill for the new year in this new normal set-up.
Happy New Year. If you’re a parent or a student who’s already thinking of enrolling for violin lessons, this might be the year when you can start fulfilling your dream to become a violinist. I’m looking forward to meet you.
